NOTE: Clutch master failures can be identified by noting that clutch begins to engage much closer to the floor. This is an indication that the seals are worn in the master. The most common clutch master cylinder failure is leak down due to seal failure. The master cylinders will leak down from one day to the next. Generally noticed after the car has been sitting for a while (8-12 hours).

NOTE: To determine clutch pedal wear, simply touch the clutch pedal lightly and determine the distance before you come in contact with firm resistance from the master cylinder. The resistance from the pedal should be immediate. If not, replace the clutch pedal. Severe pedal travel may indicate a need for clutch master cylinder replacement as well.
