OPENING HOOD WITH BROKEN CABLE

When the hood cables break about the only way to open the hood is too insert a home made hook below the hood latch and attempt to pull the latch release from the front of the hood. Be careful not to scratch the paint on the hood when doing this.

I tried the hook method, but couldn't make it work. Saab actually has a tool for this, but I couldn't find one. I went in from underneath. I had to remove the splash shield, and the turbo intercooler pipe, and then I could get my arm up to the hood release latch. Not fun, but it works.
