WATER LEAKS AND WIND NOISE TESTING

Wind noise and water leaks typically go hand in hand. Where one exist the other will exist as well. A good way to test for wind noise or water leaks is to take a piece of paper and place it on the weatherstrip molding then shut the door or hatch. If you can pull the paper out without much resistance then you likely will have a water leak or at least wind noise there. One simple fix when a weatherstrip molding has collapsed is to make a small razor slice in the weatherstrip at the point of failure and insert 5/32 vacuum hose into the whole. This will make the collapsed area of the weatherstrip more full which in most cases will the leak to go away.
